August 29th is the 3rd anniversary of hurricane Katrina

A Call to Action-A Day of Unity

New Orleans is on the front lines in the struggle against displacement and gentrification in the United States and in the struggle for our Right to the City. Many of the tactics first used against the people of New Orleans are being or will be exported to cities across the country. In traditional enclaves for low-income families of color in New York City, such as Harlem, the Lower East-side and Chinatown, gentrification is destroying the fabric of these neighborhoods. There is no input from the communities affected and displacement is rampant. People are fed up!!! Please join us for a "Call to Action-A Day of Unity" as we show solidarity with our brothers and sisters in New Orleans.

The day will begin with a rally and press conference in Sara Roosevelt Park, followed by a march through the streets of the lower east side and Chinatown. The march will end with a vigil in front of 1 Police Plaza.

At 7:30pm on August 29th a fundraiser at Judson Memorial Church put on by the Artist Relief Collective and the Nola Preservation Society will close our "Day of Unity".
